Overview
Dark Anchor does not collect, transmit, or share any personal data. Everything the extension does happens entirely within your browser, on your device.
This policy describes what data Dark Anchor stores locally, why it stores it, and how it is used. No data ever leaves your device.
Data Stored Locally
Dark Anchor uses chrome.storage.local - your browser's built-in local storage - to remember your preferences between sessions. The following settings are stored:
- Enabled state - whether Dark Anchor is turned on or off
- Background brightness - your chosen brightness slider value
- Dyslexia assist - whether the readability spacing feature is enabled
- Color-only sites - the list of domains you have added to the color-only whitelist
This data is stored locally on your device only. It is never transmitted to any server, and is not accessible to any third party.
Data We Do Not Collect
Dark Anchor does not collect, store, or transmit any of the following:
- Browsing history or visited URLs
- Page content or text on any website
- Personally identifiable information of any kind
- Analytics, telemetry, or usage statistics
- Crash reports or error logs
- IP addresses or device identifiers
Permissions Explained
Dark Anchor requests the following browser permissions, each used solely to deliver its core functionality:
- activeTab - allows the extension to apply visual changes to the page you are currently viewing, only when you interact with the extension
- scripting - allows the extension to inject the grammar color-coding and dark mode styles into web pages
- storage - allows the extension to save your preferences locally using chrome.storage.local
- host_permissions (all URLs) - required so the extension can function on any website you choose to enable it on; no data is read from or sent to these sites
Third Parties
Dark Anchor does not integrate with, communicate with, or share data with any third-party services, analytics platforms, advertising networks, or APIs.
The extension operates entirely offline after installation. No network requests are made by the extension itself during normal use.
Children's Privacy
Dark Anchor does not knowingly collect any information from anyone, including children under the age of 13. As no data is collected at all, the extension is safe for use by all ages.
Changes to This Policy
If this privacy policy is updated in a future version of Dark Anchor, the updated policy will be published at this URL and the effective date will be revised accordingly. Continued use of the extension after any changes constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
